We are distinctly individual, yet bound together in our expectation of a better life for all people. We want to educate our children to a concern and appreciation for all people and for the natural world around us. We want our young to learn the history of the human race with all the errors and failings, the doubts and questions, the triumphs and victories. We want our children to distinguish lasting values from current fads, to conserve what is good and beautiful, and to grow to a sense of responsibility for their own time upon this earth. We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: · The inherent worth and dignity of every person. · Justice, equity and compassion in human relationships. · Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations. · A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. · The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and society at large. · The goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all. · Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
