Buckshutem Road School is a dynamic, exciting, active, engaging learning environment where “Knowledgeable Equipped Youth Succeed!” Our staff addresses the intellectual, emotional, and social well being of students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade eight. Our staff prepares children with the tools and skills to compete and excel in a changing global environment. Buckshutem selected a home grown whole school reform model entitled “Shared Responsibility for Student Achievement.” The Buckshutem Road School staff ardently and fervently believes that incorporating all of the stakeholders is paramount and vital which ultimately enhances student achievement.
The “Shared Responsibility for Student Achievement” whole school reform model was chosen because the adept, and skillful staff members are familiar with ensuring that all students experience success through excellent teaching, guidance, mentoring, and modeling by parents, staff, and the community. The students at Buckshutem are encouraged to develop their creativity, talents, and technological skills to become “Knowledgeable Equipped Youth that Succeed!”
Buckshutem Road School addresses the needs of all students. In addition to the regular curriculum that is aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, we are working hard to provide a developmentally appropriate core knowledge curriculum for all students. We have a student support team comprised of support personnel that meet regularly to assist students that are experiencing academic, emotional or social dilemmas. Extra help is provided for at-risk students through our Basic Skills Improvement Program. We provide our advanced students with Gifted and Talented classes (GEMS). We also have an extended day remedial program, enrichment, and social skills programs. There are also incentive programs in place that recognize students of the month, citizenship, honor roll, safety patrol and 24 Game Tournament winners through our Renaissance program.
We have a School Leadership Council Team that is an instrumental and integral part of the decision making process. We believe that it is essential and imperative to involve all stakeholders in the educational process. The School Leadership Council Team is an asset and vital component to ensure that “Knowledgeable Equipped Youth Succeed!”
The Buckshutem Road School staff, students, and families are a community of learners. It is vital that we support each other to ensure the success of all learners.
Buckshutem utilizes the McGraw Hill Reading Series for language arts literacy and SRA/McGraw Hill Everyday Math Series for students in grades K-5 and McGraw Hill Connected Math Series for students in grades 7-8.
