We are a fellowship of believers in the process of growing in our Christian faith and seeking to share our faith with the world.

That all come to know the love of God, revealed in Christ Jesus.

In 1858, a circuit-riding preacher passed through the area and helped a small group of Christians unite and form a church. The believers gathered to worship God and explore ways to be in ministry together. They first met in the Wilson Schoolhouse, then a one-room building that cost $1,300 to build. When that sanctuary was destroyed by fire (during a revival meeting in 1897) a new church was built members of the congregation and opened for worship seven months later!

Mount Zion United Methodist Church continues to meet in that sanctuary! It has been added onto and remodeled several times. Yet people continue to come together seeking the life-giving power God offers in Jesus Christ. Through worship, fellowship, study, prayer, and mission outreach we seek to grow in our understanding of God's love for us, revealed in Christ Jesus.
