NON-PROFIT BYOBikes RAISING FUNDS TO GIVE CHRISTMAS
BIKES TO UNDERPRIVILEGED KIDS OF NOLA
“Building a stronger, safer community by spreading joy with the gift of a bike.”
New Orleans, LA – NOLA has a new non-profit comprised of a diverse team of warriors created by Ali Brown and Robin Tate, who’s vision is to make a difference in local at-risk youth and underprivileged children’s lives through bicycle donations. Do you remember your first bike? The freedom, the joy, and when the exhilarating possibilities seemed endless? BYOBikes mission is to collect as many bicycles as possible and get them into the hands of children in-need for the Christmas holiday.
“By providing bikes, we are teaching responsibility, encouraging community spirit, promoting a healthier lifestyle and providing transportation to school, work and all the things that every New Orleanian wants to enjoy. We want to use our platform to give back to the community that we love and cherish” says Ali Brown.
BYOBikes works in partnership with the New Orleans Police Department, schools and other youth organizations. The goal is to ensure that the kids of NOLA in need of assistance get the attention they deserve to help them become the future leaders and influencers of the greater New Orleans community.
The organizations goal is to raise $25,000-$50,000 before the end of the year. BYOBikes relies on the donations of funds to purchase the bikes, volunteers to build the bikes and the assistance of local community organizations to distribute the bikes. BYOBikes welcomes the assistance from the local volunteers to participate in the annual Bike Build set for early December. This is an opportunity to work together with your fellow New Orleanian’s to give back to your community.
Get involved, BYOBikes is approved by the IRS and has been granted a non-profit 501©(3), Federal Tax ID # 83-3861429. They partner with individuals, local businesses, national corporations and New Orleans-based non-profit organizations that wish to make a difference in the community. Every little bit counts. For every $150 collected, a bike, helmet, lock, lights, bike registration and safety class are provided.
