Canton Calvary Mission is a private, non-profit, faith-based ecumenical agency providing economic, social and spiritual assistance to the most vulnerable of God's children in the heart of one of the most economically depressed areas of Stark County. Located at 1345 Gibbs Ave. NE, just across the street from the Gibbs Elementary School, the Mission is ideally positioned to provide urgently need services to needy children and families in the Gibbs neighborhood.
The people of City Hope Church have partnered with Canton Calvary Mission, a growing not-for-profit neighborhood center. Canton Calvary Mission led the way, four years ago, in the Gibbs neighborhood by first providing food and a safe haven to neighborhood residents. Now, with an intentional focus of being a safe haven to children through food, education, and the arts, Canton Calvary Mission shares its space with the emergence of City Hope Church.
This Fall, City Hope is supporting the Calvary Arts Program (C.A.P) with volunteers and prayer. The program will run Tuesday October 4, 2005...and will focus on empowering an urban community, with skills that they would not otherwise have an opportunity to experience. These skills will include: Theater, Voice Training, Keyboard Lessons, Drum Lessons, Dance, Recording, Bible Study Zones, Community Singing, and a Tutoring Program (just to name a few). The tutoring program offers one-on-one homework assistance to elementary-age children, and helps to prepare them for school proficiency tests.
