Cape Assist is dedicated to preventing and treating substance abuse and related issues in Cape May County through education, advocacy, counseling and community collaboration.  Cape Assist is part of The New Jersey Prevention Network.   Each county in New Jersey is represented in this affiliation.  Together we strive to provide effective, research-based prevention programming and the latest materials and publications.

Cape Assist is a non-profit agency funded by federal, state, and county grants as well as private contracts and individual contributions.

Cape Assist was founded by five dedicated individuals from Cape May County who thought students should know the truth about alcohol and the problems it could cause if abused. They visited shools and made presentations. They advocated for funding and kept the issue of alcohol abuse in the forefront at community meetings.

Programs:

K.A.R.E Center-
Kids Art Resource and Education Center is an after-school program for Wildwood children ages 6 through 11 which helps develop the personal and social skills necessary for them to lead healthy productive lives.

Forest Friends-
Is a six-week program for kindergarten and first grade in which students learn different aspects of character education.

Sea Life-
This violence prevention program consists of six interactive lessons that combine a puppet story line, group discussion, and activit sheets to share with family memebers and caretakers.

IMPACT-
Is a 6-hour education program for young people who have experienced problems at home, at shcool, or with the law due to alcohol or drug use. For ages 15-18 years.

REBEL-
Reaching Everyone By Exposing Lies is a youth group dedicated to telling the truth about tobacco and empowering teens to make positive choices.

Strengthening Families Program-
Is a science based family-skills training program that involves the entire family. This program helps children 6-11-years-old and their parents develop skill that strengthen the family unit.

WISE-
Wellness Initiative Senior Educators recruits senior volunteers for a variety of projects that benefit from the assistance and experience of our older citizens.

Healthy Community Coalition-
The coalition collaborates with community organizations to strengthen prevention efforts in Cape May County. The Healthy Community Coalitio encourages healthy, life-affirming behaviors through various community networks such as municipal alliances, faith communities, schools, businesses, etc.

Community Partnerships-
Cape May County Communities Against Tobacco is a coalition dedicated to enhancing the safety, health, and well being of our community through tobacco prevention and education for a tobacco free New Jersey.

RESOURCE CENTER:
Cape Assist is a RADAR Network (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource) State Associate Site. The Resource Center maintains a vast libary of literature, films, and resources on a variety of substance abuse topics, including 12-step, AA and Al-Anon. All information is free to the public. A Speakers' Bureau provides speakers who will address your group on a variety of topics related to preventing susbstance abuse.
