History:
The Central Maine Egg Festival has traditionally been a celebration of the brown egg industry and is held annually in July at Manson Park. It is the event of the year in Pittsfield. Activities are held in and around the downtown area for the preceding five days, with a parade and the Kiwanis Karnival held on Saturday. The Egg Festival Committee begins early in the year planning the event, with numerous civic groups participating to hold events or set up booths. In addition to the parade, there is an Early Bird Breakfast, chicken barbeque, street dance, “Egglympics”, craft fair and fireworks. The Kiwanis Karnival offers rides. The Egg Festival offers an opportunity for the entire community to celebrate and for civic groups to raise needed funds.
