Christ the King Church

145 South Main Street
828-389-0558

Christ the King Church was started in November 2003 with about 40 people from Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville, NC. In January 2004 we affiliated with the Anglican Mission in America (AMIA), which is an missionary effort by the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Africa, to reach 130 million unchurched people in America with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We began meeting at Union Hill Methodist Church in Hiawassee. In October 2004 we moved into our own leased space at The Chatuge Place, and in February 2006, we moved to Main Street in Hiawassee, GA where we are now located.

As an Anglican church, we maintain the traditions of the Church of England, in that we are a liturgical and sacramental church. Being a liturgical church means that our worship services follow a form of worship (we use a worship booklet to follow the flow of the service) and involve more pageantry and more worshipper participation than non-liturgical services. Being a sacramental church means that we use outward and visible signs of invisible and spiritual grace. This involves such things as water for Baptism, bread and wine for Holy Communion and holy oil for anointing the sick.
