About Us
A church should be about relationships, about community—community in the sense of caring and support. Common purpose, shared experience, shared perspective. A church should stand in contrast to things in the world that can beat you down. A church says there's more than me, more than now. That God is a god of history, of which we're a part. That out of all the chaos of this life there really is order and purpose and meaning. You're not alone; you're in a community. You're able to give and receive grace, give and receive strength.

Everyone is longing for acceptance. In the world, you may feel you have to pretend or hide or do certain things, but you always look forward to going home. Because you're accepted by people who know you as you are. That's why a church should be like a family. Their acceptance of you is not dependent on how you measure up. You have a place where you don't have to be afraid to share your fears or hopes or insecurities.
An atmosphere of genuine acceptance is based on a proper understanding of our inherent value before God, and therefore the appreciation we ought to have for one another. We can accept each other because God is holy, because we are not holy. God loves us. And because God has responded to us in grace, we have freedom to respond to each other in grace. God never accepted individuals because they achieved His expectations, and we don't have to pressure each other to live up to our expectations.
