History:
The town of Anna was incorporated in the year 1913 and Jno. F. Greer [was elected] mayor without opposition and served the term, was elected the second time but declined to serve and Dr. W.C. Bryant was elected and is now mayor. Mr. Greer was also the second post master for Anna. He came to Texas in 1870 from Alabama, and settled one mile north of this town.
In the year 1878 he returned to Alabama and was married to Miss Laura Ellis and came back here. Their daughter, Miss Anna, now in Korea as a missionary, was the first child born in Anna.
Mr. and Mrs. Greer are the parents of eleven children, all of whom are living, namely Joe L., owner of the Red Cross Pharmacy, T. E. and B. D. D., twins, Bessie, J. D., Grady, Emma, James, Bryan and Laura May. Baxter Greer lives at Brownwood and is one of the professors in the Daniel Baker [College]. Miss Anna is in Korea. James and Bryan are attending Daniel Baker College; the other children are all residents of Collin County.
Mr. Greer is now in his 66th year and is enjoying reasonably good health. Mrs. Greer is 66 years and is being blessed with the best of health.
