Bel Aire was originally formed as an improvement district in January 1955 and then incorporated as a city on November 26, 1980. In 1998, Bel Aire received state recognition to become a city of the second class provided for under state statutes. The City encompasses approximately 2,860 acres ideally suited for residential and commercial development.
The City of Bel Aire has grown leaps and bounds with an increase in population of almost 60 percent between 1990 and 2000 with a current population of over 6,600. Along with this increase in population has come additional commercial development. The intersection of 37th Street North and Woodlawn.
