Here is some of our history:

Tri-City Christian Center began on June 7, 1942. On that day, Ernest Manley began a tent revival on Wayne Rd. in Wayne, MI. Cold weather moved the new congregation to a store building on Newberry St. By New Years Eve of 1943, a new church had been built on the Southeast corner of Wayne Rd. & Currier St., where it is still used as a church today. Pastor Manley remained at the Wayne Assembly of God until January 1948.

In April of 1948 Edward Raimer accepted the pastorate of the Wayne Assembly of God. During his tenure, the church experienced much growth and discipleship. In 1973, property was purchased on Hannan Rd., and in 1976 the new church was completed (& renamed Tri-City Assembly of God). Pastor Raimer remained at Tri-City until October of 1981.

Richard Linderman accepted his call to Tri-City in November of 1981 and stayed until December of 1988. During their ministry, the Linderman’s brought a strong musical influence that is still a large part of Tri-City today.

In March of 1989, Rocky Barra became the pastor of Tri-City. In the 16 years that Rocky has been serving Tri-City, there has been tremendous growth in all areas of ministries.

By 1992, Rocky was holding three services. In 1993, it was time to move. The Outreach Center on Michigan Ave. was purchased, allowing Tri-City to resume a two-service schedule.

Tri-City’s campus was now spread out over two locations. Creativity with space, time, and dates were at a peak. With age groups spread out like they were, it took a toll on the congregation and staff.

In 1995 modular buildings were purchased and placed next to the Outreach Center. This allowed for adults and children to be in buildings that were next to each other. Through all of this, the leadership of the church realized this was only a temporary fix, and the need for a permanent place existed.

Tri-City purchased 23 acres on Sheldon Rd. from Canton in 2001, with the option to purchase 31 additional acres at a later date. We celebrated the Grand Opening of our Sheldon Rd. facility – complete with chapel and Playscape - on September 8, 2002. The new building strategically positions us to pursue our vision of “Caring Our Community To Christ”.

On October 14th,  still keeping our focus on our community,  we changed our name to Connection Church.  We've put a lazer focus on connecting people to the Infinite God, incredible Friends, and important Service.
