History:

The Moody Public Library began in 1978 out of a bookmobile. The library later moved to the Civic Center building where Anita Day served as the first Librarian. It was open 13 hours per week. Later a portion of the fire station served as a library. After Mrs. Day retired, Doris Stanley was appointed the new Library Director. In October 1992, located behind City Hall, officials had approved the construction of its own building. This building was 2,800 square feet and served the community 40 hours per week. With the passing of Mrs. Stanley in June 2000, the library was renamed in her memory. Patsy Spradley became the new Director in 2001. As the libraries’ patronage and collection grew the building was not suitable in space. A new facility was erected on March 12, 2017. This building is 5,600 square feet complete with a story room, conference room, computer lab and patio. The new library is located at 300 Bookmark Circle across from the Moody Civic Center and Splash Pad.
