The first building, Dungannon High School, was erected in 1912 and served students in grades 1-12. A second building was erected in 1922 and the gymnasium was added in the mid 1950s. In 1968, grades 8-12 were enrolled at the new consolidated high school at Twin Springs, and Dungannon became an elementary school. In the fall of 1985, a new era came to Dungannon as the old building was torn down, and students began having classes in the newest elementary facility in the county. The site of the original auditorium now houses a block of classrooms. Part of the original hallway, as well as the basement, is still in use. In 1995, Dungannon Elementary was to house only grades 4-7 and thus became Dungannon Intermediate School.
