Eastlake Montessori School is a small, cozy traditional Montessori school for children ages 2 ½ through 7 where children are encouraged to learn and thrive at their own pace. A love of learning is enhanced and strengthened.
Our school was started in 1980. The same staff has been with the school for a number of years. This provides a safe, stable and nurturing learning environment for the children.
Children attend five days a week during the regular school year. Both a morning and an afternoon class for preschool age children and a full-day program for kindergarteners are offered. We also have a summer program for new and returning students.
Our daily schedule for both morning and afternoon sessions is broken up into a two hour work period where the children are given individual lessons, small group lessons and practice lessons they have already been given. The children often choose which work they want to do next. The work period is followed by a group time where a teacher leads the children in finger plays, songs, and large motor activities. The children are encouraged to share things from home and how they are feeling. Often times a story is read during that time. The last half hour is spent on the playground if the weather permits or with toys or activity games when the weather is too cold or wet.
Children who stay all day bring their own lunch and younger children have the option of being a "lunch-a-buncher" on a regular basis or on occasion.
