Eden Farm - Little Flower Farm
Eden farm is joining forces with two immediately neighboring farms--"the frayed shoestring" = my father's farm and "Little Flower Farm" owned and operated by close friends of our family. We all live within walking distance of each other. We cooperate in a joint CSA venture, pooling resources and experience for a truly community supported agriculture. We are excited about building a sustainable and local food source in our neighborhood, and all of that starts with beautiful relationships of shared labor, trust, and partnership between local farms.
-Locally Grown Food--Short of growing it in your own back yard, this is about as local and as fresh as it gets.
-Local Economy--We are all staying here. So is our money.
-All Natural / Chemical Free Food--If this is a concern for you, then you have found the right place. Our Land has been farmed organically for decades.
-Your Own Good Health and Peace of Mind--our produce comes from healthy soil, tended with care, not from harmful chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
--Real relationship to your food and the people and land that produce it.How's it work?
People who wish to participate, buy a share in the farm produce--the cost is $450 for the season--18 weeks--June to October,Shareholders will pick up at the farm, or at our drop off points (TBA), a box per week of healthy chemical-free vegetables and fruits (strawberries) once the season starts. There will also be opportunities for purchase of extras as they are in season.CSA produce members will also have the first shot at our poultry, egg, lamb, and pork shares. Just ask.If you want to do a half-share we encourage you to find a friend or neighbor who will "go halves" with you.For an idea of what you will receive each week, check the "products" section of the home page (at the bottom). How much stuff will we get every week?Shareholders will recieve a 5/9 bushel box full of produce every week. You can reasonably expect to get enough produce (veggies and fruit) to have Something from the farm for 3-5 meals, for about 3-5 people per week.
Are Strawberries included in my produce share?
-Yes they are.
Are the meat and egg shares extra?
-Yes, they are extra, but those who buy the produce shares will get first shot at the meat and egg shares.
What if we don't like the veggies that we get?
Well, you can do one of three things:
1. You can do like your mother said you should when you were little--eat them anyway because they're good for you :-) .
2. You can give them away to someone who does like them.
3. You can try them in a recipe we will give you. Maybe you'll like them.
People who aren't crazy about vegetables Love our vegetables. The biggest reason is that our produce is grown from nutrient rich soil, with no pesticides, with good flavor and health in mind. Quality is the big criterion with health as part of a complete life being the goal.We started doing this for ourselves over 30 years ago--just because we wanted to eat fresh, good-tasting, healthy vegetables.
We are a small family farm located just west of Greenville, Mi. We are teaming up with Little Flower Farm of Gowen (just across the road) for the 2011 CSA. We have been raising and selling all-natural fruits, vegetables, eggs, and meat for over thirty years. (No GMOs.) We focus on heritage breeds, emphasizing real quality and good taste in our produce. In the recent past we have raised certified all-natural pork for Niman Ranch (www.nimanranch.com).
In the Spring of 2011 we will be opening up our farm to the CSA community, offering our wide variety of fruits, vegetables, eggs, and meat to people in the Greenville and Grand Rapids area interested in wonderful, healthy, all natural, food from a local farm owned by those who work it. We will be offering farm-tours throughout the season and eventually opening a small shop featuring local food, baked goods, and hand crafts.
