The mission of Elgin Central Christian Church is to be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving and serving from our doorsteps "to the ends of the earth."

Elgin Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) seeks to be an anti-racist, pro-reconciling church promoting true community, deep Christian spirituality, and Christ-like love.

Who We Are

We are the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a group of people passionate about their faith and committed to each other. We seek to provide a rich fellowship and sense of community for people of all ages and walks of life.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has committed itself to become an anti-racist, pro-reconciling church.

We've been in Elgin since 1888 when evangelist B. B. Sanders conducted a revival and organized Central Christian Church. Many of our early members were from Young's Prairie Church which was located about 5 miles south of current day Elgin. At first, we met in the Presbyterian Church but in 1892 we erected our first building. Our current building was completed in 1965.

The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a Protestant denomination of approximately 800,000 members in the United States and Canada. It's one of the largest faith groups founded on the American frontier.

The church grew out of the Restoration Movement founded by Thomas Campbell and Alexander Campbell of West Virginia (then Virginia) and Barton W. Stone of Kentucky.
