Mission:
Our mission is to unify our community through celebrating our heritage, advocating for our businesses, and promoting Erwin’s unique small town appeal.
About Us:
Erwin is a community that began in 1903 along with the construction of a cotton mill. Originally called Duke, the town name was changed to Erwin in 1926 when Trinity College in Durham, NC, became Duke University.
Much of Erwin’s history revolves around the mill. In fact, this former “Denim Capital of the World” holds a yearly fall festival called “Denim Days,” which celebrates the town’s rich heritage and association with the mill, but also looks ahead to the town’s future. The town’s new motto, “Pride in our Past…Hope in our Future,” was developed shortly after the closing of the mill in 2000 and exemplifies the spirit of Erwin’s townspeople.
We look forward to your visit and hope that you will consider Erwin, NC, your new home if you are looking to relocate your family or business.
