History:

First Baptist Church of Monroeville, Alabama, believing that God does indeed “lead his dear children along,” has accumulated one hundred and seventy-five years in service to Him who leads.

The purpose of this history is to give some facts about the origin, growth and present status of the church as well as some of its trials and tribulations along the way. History, however, is much more than simple facts. Telling the full story of First Baptist Church would have to include the story of the shapers of the church as it is today.

 As interesting and as worthwhile as that would be, time and space preclude even a casual consideration of the forces, influences and personalities that go into the development of a church with all its organizations. This account must, of necessity, stay with the barest of facts as they relate to the church
