School Overview
Ford River Elementary School has kindergarten through sixth grade students. The staff is made up of: seven classroom teachers, one 31A teacher, two teacher assistants, itinerants for speech, art, physical education, technology and music, two foster grandparents, two noon hour supervisors, one bus line supervisor, one food server, one secretary, one library clerk and one principal.
Children are assigned to the Ford River School based on their area of residence, educational need, or school of choice. If a student needs special educational services not offered at Ford River, or if the classroom enrollment is over the district's limits, students are transferred to an appropriate school.
All of our K-6 classrooms are self-contained, with teachers providing comprehensive instruction in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, and health.
Orchestra is an elective offered to all fifth and sixth grade students, and band is available to interested sixth graders. Substance abuse education is offered in sixth grade by the D.A.R.E. program.
A social worker is available upon request to the school. The school social worker provided programs for the students to help with self- worth and self-discipline. Parents were encouraged to be involved with their child's education through volunteering at school and participating in various school activities. Parents were requested to complet a Parent/Teacher/Student agreement at the beginning of the year.
A school nurse was assigned to the school one half day a week.
