Our Mission & Purpose
The Franklin Township Food Bank's mission is to reach out to the community and provide food and assistance to people in need in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We address the needs of Franklin Township residents who require an emergency supply of food, and to do so at no cost to them. We are acting as a conduit between those who have food and/or funds to spare and share, and those who need help to put more food on their table than they can currently afford to purchase themselves.
We carry out our purpose by (a) asking local individuals, houses of worship, schools, non-profit groups, businesses and professionals for donations of food staples and money for supplemental food purchases, (b) packaging donated and purchased food into types and quantities suitable for various family/household sizes and (c) distributing the packages to people in need who come to our facility. We perform our mission five days per week, 52 weeks per year, through the efforts of numerous devoted volunteers supervised by a few part-time paid employees.
Simply stated, we are a group of community-minded and caring people, giving limited emergency help to some of our neighbors who are temporarily in need of something as basic as food!
