History:

Watkins, Iowa. A small rural Benton County community located on county road W12 in the south east section of the county. Watkin's 100 residents take pride in their community and that is reflective in the homes, businesses and church in town. A local bank, insurance agency, automotive repair shop, athletic association and grain elevator call Watkins home. St. Patricks Catholic Church serves the community.

Watkins offers residential lots for sale, natural gas and in the spring of 1999 rural water will serve the community.

A rich baseball heritage comes to life Fourth of July weekend and Labor Day weekend every year! July 1999 celebrates over 50 years of an annual baseball tournament and spectacular fireworks display. Labor Day Weekend 1999 is the 50th Anniversary of a well- organized and unique community celebration of the rich baseball history in Watkins.
