What is the Grant Lions Club
The Grant Lions club is part of the Lions Club of Michigan and Lions Clubs International, the largest service organization in the world. The Grant Lions Club has been an active part of the Grant Community and Newaygo County for over 25 years. Although our primary mission is the conservation of sight and hearing, we also sponsor a wide variety of community activities. Indeed, you local Lions Club helps reach most every charitable need within our community, either with direct service or through donations of time, talent and resources.
Who are the Grant Lions
The Grant Lions are people like you. They are people who care about the community in which they live and the quality of life of all its residents. They are people of all walks of life; merchants, farmers, educators and tradesmen. They are young people, retirees, family and single people. They are people who believe in the spirit of the small town of Grant, but whose vision of caring and commitment caries over into the larger community.
What the Lions Do
The Lions of Grant are committed to community service and the preservation of sight and hearing. To this end we have a number of projects. You have undoubtedly participated in some of them.
You know those great fish, chicken and spaghetti dinners held throughout the year at Grant Middle School -- Lions Club. The White Cane drive held each Spring -- Lions Club again. The U.S. flags that are displayed all over town on special days and the road cleanups from 128th to 116th streets -- Yes, the Grant Lions.
In addition, the club has mints for sale in many area businesses. We collect and donate used or no longer wanted eye glasses and hearing aides to be refurbished and distributed to the needy in other areas. We also cooperate and participate with other charitable organizations to help the sick, down and out, and those in desperate need during times of emergency.
