About
Greater Lowell Technical High School is proud of its enthusiastic and diverse student body. There are approximately 2,200 high school students at GLTHS, making it one of the largest technical high schools in Massachusetts. Students come with a variety of cultural backgrounds; some speak a language other than English.
Students come to GLTHS from four communities: the city of Lowell, which sends approximately 80 percent of our students; Dracut, with about 15 percent, and the remainder from suburban Tyngsborough and Dunstable. Most enter the school as ninth graders, although some come in their sophomore year.
There are some students who come with a clear idea of a career goal; most, however, decide upon a specialty after going through our career exploratory program. Because the school is large, there are many opportunities for career choices, academic classes, and extracurricular activities.
Although GLTHS is large, it is also a friendly school. Students get to know one another through the smaller groups in classes and technical programs, and the long list of sports, clubs, and activities.
Mission
The mission of the Greater Lowell Technical High School is to provide its students with a dynamic academic and technical education preparing them to be lifelong learners who will be competent, respectful and responsible citizens capable of adapting to an ever-changing and increasingly technological society
