The Islanders is Downriver’s oldest theatre club and one of the oldest civic theatre groups in the state of Michigan. The club has been active on Grosse Ile since 1925, when friends and neighbors needed an outlet for wholesome entertainment during the long Michigan winters. Our first major play was produced on May 21, 1926 by a group of 40 founding members. This year marks our 80th consecutive season!
The Mission of The Islanders is “to promote a sense of community and to enhance our community's appreciation of theater and fine arts by presenting plays or monologues, attending theater events, supporting school dramatics, and presenting scholarships to promising drama students.”
Please join us at an event this season. We are actively seeking new members, and we would be delighted to see you ON STAGE or OFF!
