Growing Veterans adheres to 5 fundamental Values, all of which build upon each other:
We took an oath and volunteered to serve our country. Some of us never came home and others are not fully home, returning to combat daily in our thoughts or dreams... but we believe that through service we can honor those who have fallen and regain our sense of purpose back home. We encourage veterans and civilians alike to serve together for the greater good.
We believe the concept of service also implies healthy stewardship of our environment and our natural resources. Growing Veterans' activities aim to support and strengthen systems that steward the land responsibly, primarily through sustainable agriculture and local food systems.
We know that a healthy community is very important for a veteran to feel at home. We rely upon community members' support in order to be successful and we aim to empower veterans to return the favor by participating in activities that will strengthen their local community.
We are dedicated to fighting veteran isolation, the root cause of multiple issues the veteran population faces. We are dedicated to empowering veterans and community members to serve alongside each other. And we are dedicated to strengthening local food systems all over.
We acknowledge that leadership is important and often abused. We believe in being responsible leaders. So we consider the input of all of our stakeholders before making any decision and we attempt to build bridges through collaboration with others in order to create a healthy environment. Responsible Leaders DO NOT use their power to divide others and create hostility.
