Harmony Valley Farm

Harmony Valley Farm, located in a secluded, spring-fed valley in western Wisconsin, has been growing certified organic produce since 1985. Through direct sales at the Dane County Farmers' Market, to over 1200 families in our CSA program, small retail stores and fine restaurants, we have earned a reputation for especially flavorful, high quality vegetables, fruits and herbs. Certified organic, pasture grazed Angus beef, organic fruit sourced from other growers in North America, organic fair trade coffee, and our new organic cheese share are other CSA options. We have several CSA drop sites in Viroqua, LaCrosse, Onalaska, Mazo, Cross Plains and Madison Wisconsin, and also Minneapolis, St. Paul, Plymouth, Eden Prairie, Bloomington and Rosemount, Minnesota.

Members pick up their shares at the farm or at one of over 25 delivery sites in and around La Crosse, Onalaska, Viroqua, Mazomanie, Cross Plains, Madison, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Plymouth, Eden Prairie and Rosemount, MN. We offer several payment options and the widest variety of produce, as well as the longest season, in the upper midwest.

CSA Details:

Vegetable Shares

Weekly Vegetable Share: 30 boxes, delivered weekly May 9/10/11-October and every other week starting Nov 7/8/9 - Dec 19/20/21 $960 - Sign Up by May 1st to receieve all 30 boxes. This share will give you the full seasonal experience from early spring through our peak summer season and winds down with our late fall season selections. Spring selections may include overwintered spinach & parsnips, asparagus, ramps, salad greens & spring radishes. See our “Peak Season” description below for our summer vegetable selections. Late season boxes may include a variety of root crops (carrots, parsnips, beets, turnips, celeriac), cabbage, sweet potatoes & winter squash. The weekly share is the most economical option per box. If a weekly box is too much for you, but you don’t want to risk missing out on any part of the season, consider finding another household to share the box with you. 

Peak Season Share: 20 boxes, delivered weekly June 20/21/22 through October 31/November 1/2. $735 - Sign Up by June 6th to receive all 20 boxes. This shorter season share features summer produce grown during the peak of our season. Box contents may include summer greens (such as swiss chard), green beans, cucumbers, sweet peppers, tomatoes, sweet corn, melons, summer squash and more. 

Every Other Week (EOW) Produce Share: 17 boxes, delivered every other week May - December $603.50 - Sign up by May 1st to receive all 17 boxes. The same seasonal selections we pack in the weekly box, but delivered less frequently. EOW members pick up shares on either “brown” or “green” weeks. We will automatically sign you up for “brown” weeks if you sign up for cheese, coffee or don’t order any other shares (unless otherwise indicated). Likewise, we will automatically sign you up for “green” weeks if you sign up for fruit shares (unless otherwise indicated). We are unable to change your delivery dates mid-season to accommodate vacations or other special occasions. If you would like the convenience of choosing and switching your delivery dates, please consider our “Flex” plan (see below). 

Flex Plan: Delivered May-December on the weeks of your choice. 14 box minimum $37 per box. This share will allow you to choose which weeks you want to receive a delivery. Please use the delivery schedule available on our website to select preliminary delivery dates from May-December. Send this schedule to the farm along with your sign-up form. You will  be able to make changes to your schedule throughout the season as long as you let us know by noon on Tuesday of the week of the change. This is a great option for those who sign up part way into the season and want to choose either weekly or every-other-week deliveries. This is also a popular selection for members in smaller households or those that travel frequently for work or summer vacations. This has also become a popular gift for college students.

Extended Season Share: Two large boxes of root and storage vegetables delivered in Janaury 2014 $85 - Sign up by December 12th. This is your last chance to get Harmony Valley Farm veggies until May! Boxes may contain beets, cabbage, carrots, celeriac, beauty heart radish, garlic, onions, parsnips, sunchokes, turnips, dried beans and more!

CSA Market Share (Madison Only): $40 and $100 Prepaid Punch cards redeemable at our Dane County Farmer’s Market Stand April through November (Outdoor markets only) - includes ‘free pick’ bonus punches. If you enjoy making your own produce selections at the farmer’s market or want to supplement your CSA share, consider purchasing a prepaid punch card. Each card purchased is valid through July 2014. You may use this card to purchase any produce item from our market stand. Each card includes “Free Picks” which represent a value of 10% of the purchase price of the card. You may redeem your “Free Picks” at any time during the season. The “Pick of the Week” will be farmer’s choice and will change from week to week. Lost or stolen cards cannot be replaced.

Cheese Shares

Our cheese share features high quality, certified organic cheese selections from regional producers who meet our criteria for rotationally grazing their animals on mineral-rich pastures. Most of our cheeses are made from a single source of milk and represent the terroir, or flavor, of the pastures they graze on. We feel this is an important factor in producing unique & delicious cheese. Each delivery will include three different cheese selections for a total of approximately 2.5 pounds. The three different cheeses will represent one or two more common cheeses such as Colby, Monterey Jack, Munster, Mozzarella, or a seasonal Cheddar. Throughout the season we will also include specialty vegetable-flavored cheeses made with vegetables from our farm and only available through our cheese share! Flavors include Green Garlic Jalapeno, Carrot Dill, Ramp & Caramelized Onion with Roaster Peppers. Finally, each delivery will feature a specialty cow, sheep or goat’s milk cheese such as Camembert, Brebis, Feta or Gouda. Every delivery will include a cheese newsletter with producer & farm updates, recipes and cooking & usage tips to help you incorporate cheese into your meals along with the vegetables & fruit you receive with your other shares. Our cheese shares are delivered on “Brown” delivery weeks. 

Full Cheese Share: 19 deliveries every other week on “Brown” weeks May 16/17/18 -January 23/24/25 $503.50 - Sign up by May 1 to receive all 19 deliveries. This share option is the best value. You will receive cheese every other week and will be sure to receive all the varieties we have to offer. This share is also a great option for those interested in freezing various amounts of cheese for the winter!

Once a Month Cheese Share: 10 deliveries, once a month May-January  $270- Sign up by May 1 to receive all 10 deliveries. If you think the full cheese share might be too much for your household, try our Once a Month Cheese Share. You’ll receive a variety of the same great cheese selections, just less frequently. Many of the cheeses will store for a month or more, so you’ll stay well supplied until the next delivery. 

Cuatro Queso Cheese Share: 4 deliveries every other week in either May-June (Spring) or November-December (Fall) $112 - Sign up by May 1 (Spring) or October 24 (Fall) to receive all 4 deliveries. This cheese share offers you a great opportunity to try out our cheese share to see if it is right for you. Signing up in the spring can allow you the opportunity to try it out for the first few weeks and then decide if you would like to commit to a full cheese share. The fall cuatro queso deliveries come just in time for holiday entertaining and gift giving. You can also use this share to stock up for the winter.

Fruit Shares

Our fruit share is delivered every other week from June through January on designated “Green Weeks.” In this share we offer a box filled with certified organic fruit, sourced at its peak from the best fruit growing regions of North America. When available, we do include local fruits in their season including apples, pears and cranberries. Each box contains a variety of 6 to 8 different fruits and weighs 12-18# on an average week. Each delivery is accompanied by a newsletter which includes information about the growers and their farms as well as ripening and storage instructions and fruit recipes. 

Full Fruit Share: 16 every other week deliveries on “Green” weeks from June 20/21/22 to January 23/24/25 $672 - Sign up by June 3 to receive all 16 boxes. This share includes both the summer and winter fruit shares. See the offerings described below for a list of seasonal selections.

Summer Fruit Share: 10 boxes delivered on “Green” weeks from June 20/21/22 to October 24/25/26 $440 - Sign up by June 3 to receive all 10 boxes. Summer fruit boxes may contain apricots, avocados, blueberries, cherries, fresh figs, grapes, mangoes, nectarines, peaches, plums, pluots, apples, valencia oranges and pineapple. 

Winter Fruit Share: 6 boxes delivered November 7/8/9 to January 23/24/25 $252 - Sign up by October 21 to receive all 6 boxes. Winter fruit boxes may contain apples, grapefruit, Satsuma mandarins, Medjool dates, pears, pomegranates, cranberries, mangoes, Clementines, tangerines, lemons, kiwi, avocadoes, persimmons and figs.

Coffee Shares

We are happy to partner with Kickapoo Coffee Roasters to offer you their whole bean, certified organic, fair trade, award winning Kickapoo Coffee. The roasters at Kickapoo Coffee were named the 2010 Micro Roaster of the Year by Roast magazine, and it is clear that they know what it takes to make an outstanding cup of coffee! All coffee is freshly roasted in Viroqua within days of delivery to you. Throughout the season you will enjoy a variety of coffees sourced from around the world and featured in their peak season of freshness and availability. Each week our Roasters will make a selection to roast for you. In general they favor a medium roast so you can enjoy the coffee’s true flavor. You will have the opportunity to try both single origin coffees as well as blends created by our Roasters. Coffee Shares are delivered on the designated “Brown Weeks.” Each delivery will be accompanied by a newsletter which highlights the grower and taste profile for the featured coffee. 

1 Pound Coffee Share: 19 deliveries every other week on “Brown” weeks May 16/17/18 to January 23/24/25 $219.45 - Sign up by May 1 to receive all 19 deliveries. The first delivery of the season arrives in Kickapoo’s recyclable, reusable 12 oz steel can. This share offers a great way to get a greater amount of coffee that you can freeze for use in the winter months once deliveries have ended.

2 Pound Coffee Share: 19 deliveries every other week on “Brown” weeks May 16/17/18 to January 23/24/25 $438.90 - Sign up by May 1 to receive all 19 deliveries. The first delivery of the season arrives in Kickapoo’s recyclable, reusable 12 oz steel can. This share offers a great way to get a greater amount of coffee that you can freeze for use in the winter months once deliveries have ended. You could also get one pound for home and one for the office!

Once a Month Coffee Share (New This Year!): 10 deliveries, once a month May 16/17/18 to January 23/24/25 $115.50 - Sign up by May 1 to receive all 19 deliveries. The first delivery of the season arrives in Kickapoo’s recyclable, reusable 12 oz steel can.
