The Heritage Area Agency on Aging, one of thirteen area agencies in the state of Iowa, is a department of Kirkwood Community College. This arrangement is the only two of it's kind in the nation and has benefited both the college and the area agency on aging.

The Heritage Area Agency on Aging during the year, offers various training and educational seminars. Several of these provide continuing education units for persons in the human services area. Updates of current events will be available through the Heritage web page.

In addition to education and training, Heritage also offers individuals the opportunity to show their support of elderly programs through the Older Iowans Fund in partnership with the Foundation at Kirkwood Community College.
