Open: Year Round
About Us:
Hightower Creek Vineyards is a small, family-operated winery located in scenic North Georgia surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hightower Creek Vineyards is the dream of Liz and Sanford Green who relocated to Hiawassee, Georgia in 1995 and fell in love with the people, places, and wine of the North Georgia Mountains. The first vines were planted in 2009 with seven acres currently dedicated to production. The vines are a mix of old-world vinifera such as Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris and Merlot, along with native American and French American hybrids such as Norton, Traminette and Vignoles.
Hightower Creek Vineyards opened its tasting room and winery in 2012 and has since welcomed thousands of guests to enjoy the wines, scenery and events. Owner Liz welcomes all guests, regardless of wine knowledge, to make themselves at home at the tasting bar or on the spacious deck. The cool valley breeze in summer, beautiful foliage in the fall, and cozy events in winter make Hightower Creek Vineyards a year-round destination.
Hightower Creek Vineyards' winery is located on site and produces consistently award-winning wines. Winemaker Travis Green uses a minimal-intervention approach in the cellar, emphasizing the unique character of the area's grapes. When not using grapes produced by the Hightower Creek Vineyards estate, the winery sources fruit from other nearby vineyards. Wines are crushed, fermented, aged and bottled on site and give full expression to the mountain terroir.
Hightower Creek Vineyards could not have become a reality without the dedication and generosity of family and friends. Friends have helped us plant vines, have transformed an old home into a tasting room and winery, help with bottling and harvesting, and give Hightower Creek Vineyards the energy and friendliness that it is known for. We love making new friends and welcome you to visit, make yourself at home, and enjoy a taste of North Georgia.
