History
Early in 1969, four acres were secured on Southern Avenue in Tempe. A call was extended to Roger, Barbara and David Gordon (soon joined by Susan) and the first worship service was held at Tempe Mortuary on Southern Avenue in October of 1969. The fledging congregation met for the first time in their new church sanctuary at our current site on February 14 1970. The 274 founding members named the church King of Glory.
King of Glory now flourishes as a congregation of more than 3,800 members and 2000 friends. King of Glory grew both fiscally and in accordance with a physical and programmatic Master Plan crafted in 1970. With the addition of numerous additional buildings and a glorious pipe organ, we have created a beautiful church campus. We remain dedicated to creative worship, strong youth ministry, active fellowship life, adult education, outreach, and missions.
