History The Kinston congregation of the Church of Christ was established in 1953. The members were initially from Tennessee that had moved to Kinston with the building of the Dupont Dacron plant. The congregation held services in different rental building around town including the old Kinston Hotel on Queen Street. In 1959 the congregation moved into a new building on the corner of Hardee Rd. and Sunset Ave. At that time it was on the western edge of the city. Currently the building is in a prime location one block North of the Vernon Park Mall.
