Kokovoko Breeding Farm
Josh & Bri's Veggies CSA is in it's first year and though we know gardening, beginning a business from the ground up is just like beginning a new garden in a new place, very much a learning process! We hope you'll join us as we embark on our brave first year farming for more than just the fun of it. We aim to remain small, grow great food and build relationships with those who wish to nourish themselves and their families with our harvest. Our ultimate goal is a year-round CSA including meats, grains, eggs, pretty much everything needed to support a family and eliminate the need for the grocery store. All in time. With that aim in mind, a great portion of our garden this year will be for storage crops (ie. beans, potatoes, onions, winter squash), so come seasons end, you will be provided with a good amount of produce for the cold winter months. But of course there will be a bounty of all the fun spring, summer and fall produce as well! (not to mention sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, oh my...more on that later) We look forward to meeting you and embarking on this exciting food adventure together.
Kokovoko is a family farm dedicated to the revival of rare breeds of livestock and sustainable farming practices. We raise Lincoln Longwool sheep for meat and fiber. Kokovoko sells locally produced handspinning tools (via mail order) and provides instruction to get beginners started. We also have absolutely gorgeous, unique colored sheepskins available. We are home to the largest herd of Swedish Gotland Ponies in North America - a breed known for their versatility and disposition. They average 12.2 HH and are used for riding, driving, and light draft work. Feel free to call; I'm always happy to talk ponies and sheep! All animals are raised on pasture and with only minimal human intervention.
