About Us:

The Lindale Independent School District serves more than 3,900 students in Lindale and parts of Smith and Van Zandt County. In 2015, under the Texas Education Agency's accountability rating system, LISD was awarded the highest rating of "Met Standard."

Students will be provided opportunities to acquire essential academic knowledge and skills to equip them to be productive and responsible citizens. All students will be taught the district's adopted "Traditional Moral Values and Ethics". Within a safe environment, exemplary and up-to-date curriculum will be provided to all LISD students for their highest level of academic and character development.

Lindale Independent School District students in grades three-through-eight exceeded the new state testing averages for STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness).

The Texas Education Agency  released the passing standards for STAAR in January 2013. The new state assessment replaced TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) and was first administered to students in spring 2012. Lindale student averages in grades three-through-eight were higher than the state averages in each of the testing categories of reading, math, writing, science and social studies.

STAAR measures a student’s preparedness to advance to the next grade as well as their college and career readiness.

In reading, 89 percent of Lindale third-graders passed the test compared to 76 percent for the state.  Ninety percent of Lindale fourth-graders passed compared to 77 percent for the state.  Eighty-seven percent of fifth-graders passed versus the states 77 percent. Lindale sixth-graders had a passing percentage of 91, higher than the states 75 percent.  Seventh-graders passed at a rate of 90 percent and eighth-graders at a rate of 92 percent.

Only Texas fourth and seventh grade students took the writing test.  Seventy-four percent of Lindale fourth-graders passed compared to the states 71 percent and 88 percent of seventh-graders passed versus the states 71 percent.

The science test was only administered to fifth-and-eighth graders.  Seventy-nine percent of Lindale fifth-graders passed and 87 percent of eighth-graders.

Eighth-graders were the only students to take the social studies test and the state passing average was 59 percent. Lindale’s eighth-grade passing percentage was 79 percent.

Finally in math, Lindale students passed at a percentage of 83 up to 98 percent.  The states averages were between 68 and 77 percent. Lindale eighth-graders had the highest passing percentage at 98 percent.

The Texas Education Agency released its 2011 Accountability Ratings and the Lindale Independent School District earned high marks again. The 2010-2011 school year ratings were the last released by the TEA due to new testing standards.Lindale ISD received a district rating of Recognized from the TEA.  Four campuses, Lindale High School, Lindale Junior High School, Velma Penny Elementary School and College Street Elementary School, also received ratings of Recognized.

E.J. Moss Intermediate School received a rating of Exemplary, the highest rating awarded by the TEA.

Accountability ratings are awarded to districts and schools based on student performance on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS).  A school’s dropout, completion and attendance rates for the prior school year are also factors. Lindale ISD met the criteria in these categories.

Lindale ISD and each campus also met Commended Performance standards. In order for a district or campus to receive an Exemplary rating for Commended Performance, 25% of all students and economically disadvantaged students must receive a commended score in math and reading. In the Lindale ISD, 46% of all students and 34% of economically disadvantaged students received commended scores in reading. In Math, 41% of all LISD students and 32% of economically disadvantaged students received commended scores.
