The James and Gladys Kemp Lisanby Museum was named after JMU alumna Gladys Kemp Lisanby ('49) and her late husband, James Lisanby. Gladys Kemp Lisanby received the Mississippi Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in recognition of her work with the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
She created the Lisanby Art History Scholars in Museum Studies scholarship to support incoming freshmen who were interested in pursuing museum studies and art history.
Located in the lower level of the Festival Conference and Student Center in room 1108, the James and Gladys Kemp Lisanby Museum houses rotating exhibits drawn from the Madison Art Collection.
