The Main Street Arts Cooperative is a nonprofit, all-volunteer community arts education and advocacy organization. Our goal is to stimulate and invigorate local interest in the arts, advocate for local artists, and confirm the importance of creativity in our community. We feature the artwork of Upshur County students and emergining artists on our Community Art Wall located inside the Main Street Gallery at 27 East Main Street in Buckhannon, WV. We sponsor the Main Street Arts Festival held in September of each year, featuring artists, musicians, preformers and dancers from the community. We are participating in "Arts in the School" by arranging for artists to teach their craft in the local schools. The Main Street Arts Cooperative has formed partnerships and alliances with West Virginia Weselyan College, the Upshur County Development Authority, the Upshur County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Upshur County Arts Alliance and with five other arts cooperatives in a six county area.
