About Us

The Manchester Community Schools are located in the southwestern corner of Washtenaw County. The district covers approximately 125 square miles and is 30 minutes from both Jackson and Ann Arbor. The Village of Manchester is a beautiful proud 19th century village. The area is surrounded by rolling hills, picturesque farms, and both historic and modern homes. This school district serves families from sections of Freedom, Sharon, Bridgewater, and Manchester Townships. The district also serves portions of the Jackson County townships of Norvell and Grass Lake. The Manchester Community School District includes approximately 1,340 students. Educational experiences offered include Early Fives Program, kindergarten through twelfth grade, an alternative education high school, and migrant education services. The district also offers a pre-kindergarten and Parents as Teachers Program (P.A.T.) through community education.

The district facilities include Luther C. Klager Elementary School (Early Fives, kindergarten through fourth grades), Manchester Middle School (fifth through eighth grades), and Manchester High School (ninth through twelfth grades) and are all located within the village limits. Manchester Alternative High School (ninth through twelfth grades) is located in the high school building. Two years ago the district completed a three-year construction project which included a 134,000 square foot new high school, an expanded middle school, changes to the elementary and a new central office. The project also included funding for new computers and interactive technology throughout the buildings. Over the summer of 2006 air conditioning units were installed in the elementary and Ackerson buildings and a new Transportation Service Center was completed. All of the district's buildings are in excellent condition.
