We grow it ourselves. For nearly 300 years, the Melick family has provided our community with delicious, locally grown, farm fesh fruits and vegetables. We are the largest tree fruit grower in Central and Northern New Jersey, with over 5,000 peach trees and 10,000 apple trees.
Your family will enjoy acres of fun at our seasonal locations for such activities as Pick Your Own peaches, apples and pumpkins. In the fall, we also offer our own fresh pressed apple cider, horse drawn wagon rides, tractor wagon rides, farm tours and much more!
You can buy our fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers and other items at several locations, including the market in Oldwick, and the Califon market which also offers the opportunity to pick your own fruit in season, and at the Bridgewater market.
We are offering this program to provide families from July through November, 22 weeks of our own fruits and vegetables. What is different about our "Family Share Plan" is that as North and Central Jersey's largest tree fruit grower, you can expect a large part of your weekly bounty will be fruit. With nearly 400 acres, a wide range of crops and ten generations of experience in farming, there is little risk that you will not be pleased with our weekly offerings. And, as a pre-paying shareholder, you will benefit from volume discoutns and over the season receive more produce than if you shopped outside the program. Also, if you sign up before the end of June, you will receive valuable coupons for pick your own and other produce purchases.
Melick's Town Farm Family Share Program starts in July when peaches and sweet corn are ready to be picked. During July and August, your share would likely include peaches, corn and perhaps plums, nectarines, peppers, zucchini, eggplant, potatoes lettuce and cucumbers, whatever is in abundant supply at the farm. Since we grow over 40 acres of peaches and 25 acres of corn, you can reasonably expect that you would receive these each week that they are in season. In August, tomatoes are also in full swing and we begin to pick the many varieties of our famous heirloom tomatoes. During September, corn peaches and tomatoes persist but we also begin to press our fresh premium apple cider and start the fall apple season with Macouns, Empire, Cortland, early Fuji and more. In October and November we still have many varieties of apples, apple cider, winter squashes and cold hardy vegetables such as brussel sprouts, cabbage and potatoes.
