Mission Statement:

It is the mission of the Melrose Area Public Schools to provide the best possible educational experience for the total development of the individual student with the human and physical resources available. The total educational environment is intended to provide the experiences necessary for a successful adjustment in a democratic society. The Melrose Area Public Schools further recognize that the highest level of educational outcome is the ability to think critically and solve problems.

In order to accomplish this mission, the students of District 740 shall be provided instructional opportunities and the following basic areas:

- Communication Skills- reading, writing, speaking, listening and languages.

- Mathematics and Computational Skills.

- Physical, natural and social sciences - industrial technology, environment, history, economics and government.

- Fine Arts - music, art, drama.

- Physical and Personal Health.

- Vocational and Career Exploration.
