History:
Mel's Farmers' Market was started in 2005 by dedicated community members and the Lake Village Economic Development Commission. The market promotes local farmers and gardeners. It is named in honor of the former Melvin Cannatella of Lake Village. Melvin worked tirelessly to promote his community and serve it in any way he could.
Mel's Farmer's Market Consignment Shop first opened it's box-car door in 2009. It is a project of The Delta Sprouts and funded through grants from Heifer International. The consignment feature of the Farmer's Market is to provide local farmers with a way to sell their produce with out the long hours in the heat. The Market takes locally grown produce and hand-made crafts.
