The Milan Area Historical Society was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1972. Headquarters are located at the “Hack House” on 775 County Street, the purpose of the Society is to educate, collect, and preserve data relating to the City of Milan and the surrounding area, including Azalia, Cone, Mooreville, Oakville, Whittaker, and Willis. The Society also has developed a historical museum using the “Hack House” for the object of being able to preserve Milan’s past for Milan’s future. Local history, artifacts, and items from Milan families are on display. It is open the third Wednesday of the month for programs or by special appointment.
