About Milliken Elementary School:
Milliken Elementary School is located in Milliken, Colorado in the Re – 5J School District. The Re – 5J School District combines the communities of Johnstown (population approximately 5,000) and Milliken (population approximately 3,400), two small but growing agricultural towns approximately 50 miles north of Denver on I – 25 and several miles east of Highway 60.
Milliken Elementary was built in 1977. At that time Milliken Elementary was a kindergarten through fifth grade school. In 1980, it became a kindergarten through second grade configuration. As the district continued to grow, Pioneer Ridge Elementary school was built in 2005. Upon the completion of the new elementary school, all three district elementary schools become kindergarten through fifth grade schools. Since 1977, several renovations and additions have taken place. A gym was added on to the school in 1997. In 2005 new playground equipment was also added.
Milliken Elementary School has a student population of approximately 400 students in grades kindergarten through fifth. Milliken Elementary also has an Early Childhood Center the serves approximately 100 preschool aged students.
The mission of Milliken Elementary School is to provide a program that is focused on developing the whole child. Our belief is that all children can learn in a safe, nurturing and respectful environment. Our responsibility is to work with the community to develop the whole child by engaging children in a wide variety of learning opportunities which best meet the needs of each child. Our aim is that each child becomes a lifelong leaner and a productive, contributing member of society.
