Mission:
Our mission is to provide all students with a rigorous instructional program in a respectful, nurturing environment.
Vision:
Monocacy Elementary School provides a high quality education where parents, staff, and students demonstrate persistence, resilience and strong character. All stakeholders respectfully support one another to facilitate rigorous learning and high standards for behavior.
History:
Monocacy Elementary opened the school year of 1961-1962 and is located in the agricultural reserve. There were approximately 236 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Our current Kindergarten through Fifth grade enrollment is 159.
There was a two year renovation from 1988 – 1989. The school saw many new changes and additions as all the classrooms were remodeled and four new classrooms were added. In addition, a brand new full size gymnasium was added at the back and the library-media center was enlarged. The building is built in the shape of a “U” which is home to our beautiful court yard with a Butterfly Garden in the middle. In the summer of 2009 our roof was renovated. This summer our parking lot was resurfaced and we have a new entrance.
Monocacy Elementary celebrated it's 50th Anniversary in 2011-2012.
