History :
Monticello Presbyterian Church has a long history. MPC was founded more than 177 years ago on May 29, 1829. The original five founders purchased the land on which the church rests today. They erected the original building in 1830. Damaged by a wind storm, this first building was demolished to construct a new building in 1898. That structure is still in use today. A Sunday school annex was added in 1928, but the top floor was not completed until 1952. In 1999, another addition offering a fellowship hall, kitchen, office complex and additional classrooms was constructed. The sketches depict the four stages of history. These sketches are the work of member-artist Linda Aldridge.
