About Us
Located in Wyoming, Natrona County School District encompasses 5,340 square miles, including the city of Casper, as well as Midwest, Edgerton, Mills, Evansville, Bar Nunn, Alcova, Mountain View and Powder River.
Approximately 11,500 students are taught in the four senior highs, seven middle/junior high schools, and twenty-seven elementary schools. Committed to excellence in education, our educational program is one of the most comprehensive in the state. Schools of choice with emphasis on a variety of instructional strategies involving the community and site-based decision making have also been implemented. The Board of Trustees and the staff of Natrona County School District believe there is no one school that meets the needs of all children. The best education happens when parents, students, and school staff work together as a team towards common goals. Parents may request attendance for their child at a school other than their local attendance area, as all schools have an open enrollment policy.
The instructional staff numbers 850 teachers. Also available, are curriculum consultants, personnel, vocational therapists, testing personnel, nurses, guidance counselors, and psychologists, increasing the number of staff members to 1,900. Parent and volunteer involvement also contribute to the strength of our schools. The district is proud of our nationally recognized comprehensive K-12 substance abuse program, and ESL (English as a Second Language) program, which is designed to meet the needs of students with limited English speaking ability. Summer school, co-curricular activities, after-school programs, hot lunch, and continuing building renovations also play an important role in the effectiveness of our schools.
Natrona County School District #1 does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability in admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, any educational programs or activities.
