New Brunswick Public Schools is a vibrant, diverse school district located in one of New Jersey's most historic communities – a thriving college town that's been home to Rutgers University for nearly 250 years. Located in the heart of Middlesex County, New Brunswick is renowned as a cultural, arts, and culinary center, and as a transportation hub only 60 minutes from New York City, 90 minutes from Philadelphia, and just 45 minutes from the beautiful Jersey Shore.

In terms of demographics, 88 percent of them are Hispanic; another 10 percent are African-American.

New Brunswick Public Schools has a total of 1,675 certified teachers and professional support staff members serving the needs of 11 schools. Specifically, there are eight neighborhood elementary schools and a middle school, plus New Brunswick High School – which features four themed career institutes and two preparatory academies – plus the Health Sciences Technology High School for students interested in eventually pursuing healthcare careers. In addition, an Adult Learning Center addresses local community requirements, and has provided educational services to more than 4,000 graduates.

The district's preschool program has the capacity to serve nearly 1,600 three- and four-year-olds at 13 community childcare centers and seven in-district sites. The rich academic experience provided to New Brunswick's students also includes 40 after-school activities, 22 high school-level athletic teams – plus 11 middle school-level teams – and a comprehensive fine, visual, and performing arts program.
