For over thirty years, Northlake Christmas Trees and Nursery has been growing Christmas trees for the choose and cut market and propagating and growing nursery stock for larger nurseries, garden centers and the local landscape businesses. Originally, Christmas trees were planted in 1981 which included white pine, Virginia pine and Eastern red cedar. Through years of trial and error, successes and failures, some species have been discontinued, others retained, and several species of spruce and fir varieties have been added to the collection. Included in the holiday tree sales are customized real wreaths mixed with many evergreen types to produce a tradition that has been around for years. Growing landscape plants is a major part of our business today.
Many varieties of plant material from broadleaf, flowering, deciduous, and conifer species are propagated and grown for eventual sale to larger nurseries and garden centers. In production are one, three, five, and ten gallon pots available depending upon the species and variety. Added to the pot production are one gallon pines, spruces, firs and hemlocks for Christmas tree growers who prefer a good rooted plant when field planting. These varieties include Scotch pine and Norway and white spruce. We have added Canaan, Concolor and Turkish firs. In addition to the nursery and Christmas trees are scenic walks around the lake, arboretum, and into the wooded trails.
