Northwest Laurens Elementary School has been housed in the current facility since August 2000. This beautiful building was constructed in 2000, and classes actually started at this location just prior to the completion of a few additional classrooms. The students, parents, faculty, staff, and community have a tremendous amount of pride in our facilities. The building features 66 classrooms, a computer lab, a media center, and a fully equipped gym.
The classrooms here at Northwest Laurens are well-designed and equipped with all of
the features necessary for accommodating young children. Classrooms in grades PreK-3 feature bathrooms that are shared by adjoining rooms. All classrooms in the school contain computer workstations, Internet connections, and televisions with access to our closed-circuit system. Classrooms are also equipped with scan converters to transfer information from a computer screen to a television to allow teachers to utilize technology in providing large group instruction.
The computer lab at Northwest Laurens is equipped with modern computers that provide students with opportunities to enhance their skills. Students in grades K-5 go to the computer lab as a part of their rotating CAMP (Computers, Art, Music, Physical Education) schedule. Age-appropriate software is provided for all students to experience a variety of learning activities.
