Round Mountain Organics (RMO) is a small high-altitude farm in the West Elk Mountains of Colorado just 10 miles south of Crested Butte. We plant whatever will grow at 8,500 feet at the base of Round Mountain. Bountiful harvests of salad and cooking greens, brassicas, roots, flowers and herbs can be found at RMO July through September. Our happy hens give us eggs daily. The whole farm including a yurt, strawbale house and year-round greenhouse are all powered by solar photovoltaic panels and a wind generator. The power from the sun and wind are stored in a bank of 12 12-volt batteries. Although Round Mountain Organics is not "certified organic" we feel our organic methods are far above and beyond what the National Organic Standards allow.
