Our Mission: Rountree Gallery is dedicated to actively promoting the creation, appreciation, and education of visual arts in our community and surrounding area. We strive to make art accessible to the public by hosting quality exhibits, by acquiring and preserving our permanent collection and arts resource library, and by offering educational opportunities to all ages.
Our History: Rountree Gallery originated in 1979 as the senior project of University of Wisconsin – Platteville student, Robert Tarrell. He served as the first Director from 1979-1980. The original gallery was located in Rountree Hall.
On June 23, 1992, the Platteville Common Council awarded Rountree Gallery its current location on the second floor of the Mining Museum. At that time, the Rountree Gallery Board was also established.
