St. George Church was founded in 1916. Ground breaking for the first Church in West Aliquippa was in May of 1916. The Church was completed in 1917, and was consecrated on July 4th by the Very Rev’d. Gabriel Martyak. The first pastor was Father Arnold Suba. In 1964 the ground was broken by Bishop Nicholas for a new Church building and social center in Aliquippa. The building was completed, and dedicated in October of 1967. Since its foundation the Church has been served by twelve priests.

The second last pastor, the Very Rev’d Msgr. Michael Simodejka, served St. George from 1946 until he fell asleep in the Lord in October 1997, on the feast of the Protection of the Mother of God. He served St. George community for over 50 years. Eternal Memory!
